| While Endyne may have been the first to use that design, if the design works it will eventually be used by everyone. Over time good designs will find their way into use by everyone. Back in the day, Dodge was famous for their "hemi" engine because it had hemispherical combustion chambers. Now most engine designs are "hemi" designs, with everyone from Dodge to Honda using them. Same goes with dual overhead cams and 4 valves per cylinder. As companies learn more about the physics of combustion dynamics and they find which designs work the best, it would be brainless and almost irresponsible to use an older design which you know doesn't work as well. Eventually, most engines will end up looking nearly the same because companies will use the designs and techniques which have proven themselves over time to work the best.
